windows media player cant play mp3

    help wanted for wmp' when trying to play mp3 refuses to play, error message not correct extension, sent to website to look for codec ,missing one is 50 but cant be found on site, thanks in advance

    It could be either your mp3 is corrupted or as WMP reported, has the wrong file extension.
    Do the rest of your mp3's play or does WMP give the same error for every mp3 ?
    If other mp3's play properly assume there is something wrong with that particular one, try renaming the file to .wma instead of .mp3 see if that works if that doesnt work try renaming to .wav then to .flac if it still doesnt work, download a new copy of the file and try it.

    thanks for that, my other mp3 play alright,i was just concered i was missing a codec, that i needed ,i will not convert the file, i will try to download the original file again thanks for your help
