    Hey everyone.
I'm having some problems that I don't even know if they can be fixed. But I'll put my question down and maybe someone can point me in the right direction...

So I have a DVDcam from Hitachi and it records onto either DVD-RAM or DVD-R discs. I have tons of DVD-R discs recorded and I want to somehow upload the video to my computer and edit it using windows movie maker. I'm not even sure if this is possible with DVD-R discs but I'm at my wits end.

If you know anything please help me, I'm a chick and I'm frustrated... not a good combo. :) thanks.

I've got some video on the discs that is useless and I want to get rid of it. Ideally I'd like to separate the video; junk all the useless stuff and put all the good video on a disc. I'd also like to change aroud the scene order and put some credits on it. I don't know if it's possible with DVD-R but who knows.

I don't even know if i posted this thread in the right section but I figured it had to do with DVD-R's and I'm a complete moron so yeah. thanks so much for answering.

    hey there,

When I open the disc to view the files there are two folders named:
    DVDCAM and VIDEO_TS

    The files in DVDCAM are:
    DVDCAM.IFO

    The files in VIDEO_TS are:
    VIDEO_TS
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_1

    thanks muchly.

nope, that's all that's listed. The DVD plays fine in my computer and in my DVD player so it's not like it's missing files or anything but yeah. maybe it's just retarded? lol.

    VTS_01_1 <--------- video

should have .vob on the end

    VTS_01_1.vob

you just need the VIDEO_TS folder on your pc

use TMPGenc DVD Author on edit function

Windows Movie Maker only supports: asf, .avi, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv

Do you know of any free movie making, or video editing software that supports my file type? if not it's fine cause you've completely helped me a ton already.

oh, now I see the edited message, is "TMPGenc DVD Author" the full program name? and where can I download it if you know...

    thanks so much!

    hi

dvd shrink can do it a round about way which will take longer, all depends how much/many clips need cutting out?

as dvd shrink a free app can cut start / end credits off and save the file, so basically saying you keep the middle, then you need to keep all the middles and load them one by one after you finished to make up the movie you want
