Hi. I have a problem that may or may not have a answer that I like but this forum probably has at least one of the two answers I need.

I just recently started a job using Excel and I am having a hard time getting the program down for my operations aspect, My friend who uses office gave me a copy of the program that he no longer uses, the problem is that while he has gone on to better pastures in that he has 2007 his copy of 2003 was in his house when it caught fire. The disk he gave me is fine but the id code is gone with the water damage. Is there any way to get the product number off the disk so that I can install it on my machine so that I can learn excel at home with out the boss looking down my neck? please help I have tried the for dummies books and I guess I really am a dummie because they didn't work, I am a hands on learner and books just don't work that well for me.

    Hi
Thanks for the reply as to the alternatives it kind of id like learning to drive a 18 wheeler and using that skil to drive a golf cart. I was just hoping to be able to open this product so I could use the same program as I now have at work. If it is not possable then the disk is just trash.
    Thanks

Why not just post the solution in the open forum so everyone can benefit from it?
