I imagine it has been asked before, but I cant find it.

I have an older damaged XP install and for some reason it didnt get repaired, it got reinstalled. I will replace later, but for now, I need to set the 1st boot as the working one. If I dont scroll fast enough, it hangs on the current 1st install, and it is the damaged one.

I am just thinking ahead, but is this just edited in the boot file in "C" directory? Can the old one just be removed completely, or is the new install using parts of it? Again, I know reinstall is in order, I just need to make it smoother for now.

    try this,

    start/run type msconfig/ got to BOOT.INI tab

From here you can adjust the time out and move which boot goes first.

    Good luck.
