    I have a Toshiba SD-R5372 DVD RW +- DL+ 5x DVD burner...
It has been working fine great for about 6 months.
I had not burned a movie in about a month and the other day i went to use my 1 click like i normally do and when i hit "burn" it said that the media in the drive wasn't compatible. It is the same type dvd's that i had always used (verbatim DVD+R DL). I figured that i had just got a bad disc.. so i put another one in... same thing.
then i tried a DVD-R single layer disc SAME thing.
UGH.. I then went to toshiba's site and downloaded and installed the newest firmware for my drive.. rebooted.. worked great..once.
I figured the problem had be solved after the firmware update.. but 4 days later i went to burn another disc and it was back to normal. Seems as tho when i remove.. reboot, reinstall reboot.. it works fine ONCE.. then it's no good.
Any ideas.. a checklist of things i could check would be helpful

windows itself isn't reconizing blank DVD's correctly at all.

I've tried nero, 1click, anydvd and none work. It still reads DVD movies and games fine though.

I have windows XP SP2 PRO with all the current updates.
my machine is a P4 3.4 overclocked to 3808mhz 2gigs of DDR2, Western digital 10k 74 gig raptor drive, 160 Gig seagate drive, geforce 6600gt pci express, and a Abit MOBO
hope that info helps... and this can be fixed fast
    THANKS
