Well i thought everyone here would like to know becarefull when installing the latest updates in windows vista i installed service pack 1 on my mom's legit copy of windows vista home basic and out of no where a day later i get a little box in the right hand corner of my mom's machine this copy of windows is not legit well i purchased my copy at costco here in washington i am looking at the box and checked everything and everything was legit i even went online to product validation and it passed so just be carefull if you get this error or you start up your vista enabled computer and it says you have to reactivate windows vista then check online once you do so and make sure you run system update afterward it fixes the problems with vista deactivation.

just thought you would like to know

Did you get the issue fixed with Microsoft?

yes but they couldn't figure out why it did it.

Wouldn't you think if they make the os they would know what's wrong.

The worst thing about this is if you are using vista and you have any activation patches installed the latest update from windows update not service pack 1 will report your ip address to microsoft and you will be arrested.

After the service pack 1 update today. I received a warning message from service pack 1 telling me if i had any activation patches which i don't installed that the windows latest update will disable the patches and that the installed update will report your key to microsoft and Immediatly suspend your key and send the data to microsoft's piracy report center.

This may be M$'s way of catching non legit copies of vista on pc using the internet. Beware of vista updates.

There is only one problem with this thinking Volume licensing how in the heck do you keep track of a license that never needs activation.

    Kinda stupid huh.
