For SP2 systems, XP or MCE...you must make sure that the following services are available.

Automatic Updates - set to Automatic.
    B.I.T.S. - set to Manual.
Event Log - set to Automatic.

Have you not allowed updates, or hidden them in the past? Not allowed the windows installer to be installed? Like Morph416 said, set everything to auto, try to update, check to see if there are any hidden updates that may need to be installed. I can't remember if the microsoft .net framework is a prequesite to install sp2. If still having probs, search support at the ms site, for your specific prob. You will have to sweep the techie crap aside and look for the real fix. If still no. Yell back. EDIT> Sorry set updated to auto by going to start, control panel, system, automatic updates tab. Select auto.

I understand, but this is stumping me. Is there an error code after the failed download attempt? Look at your download history on the update site. It will list downloads that were successful and those that failed. See if there is an explaination tacked on the end. Don't give up. Probably something simple.

KB914548 is the latest version that I got from Microsoft.com

when you go to update, choice Optional and NOT express.

Then look for the update under,"Software"

I think the update keep falling is because you need to restart everytime you update something. this happens sometimes.

HEhe, mine is on off. So.. I went to the site and dl then installed it.
