Hi. I'm having problems getting the glass effects on Vista to work, I'm using build 5270 Beta 2 and have a Nvidia Geforce4 Ti 4200. There is no support for this card in the Vista driver available from the Nvidia site, but windows has installed its own driver for it. I can't get the glass effects to work at all, or any of the window swapping flip 3D to work either. The OS run's fine, but from what i can tell its because i havn't got proper support for the driver that these features won't work. Is this true? Any help would be much appreciated.. I've tried running the reg edit i've seen in sum forums, but it won't import the edit i do in notepad, and when i enter it manually in the reg edit it still has no effect. PLEASE HELP
Here is the link on the Nvidia's website that has all of the supported GPU's. I have a HP laptop with the same issue. It has a decent GPU but Vista will not support the aero effects. www.nvidia.com/page/technology_vista_home.html You might want to consider upgrading your video card. And you don't have to go all out on it either to support Aero. I am testing Vista on numerous machines and in one I have the eVGA Geforce FX 5200 128MB. It is displaying the Aero effects great. Also you can pick this card up for less than $50.
cheers mate, i thought that would be the case. just think its sucks that a 128mb card isn't supported, but i guess its still only the beta 2 of vista so shouldn't complain too much. I've got a couple of graphics cards lying round the house, i'll have a little play and try them and see if i get any changes.
