Hey I was wondering if anyone here has the same or similar problems. Originally, my burner worke perfectly and burned my data discs fine but now it doesnt finalize any of my discs anymore. I used Power2Go and Ashampoo to burn and there was no errors or problems but when I try the DVDs, there s nothing written on them. On Ashampoo, it shows there is data but its not finalized. Im running from a Windows Vista Home Premium OS so I hope someone here can help me or recommend for me what to do. I thought it might be the TDK -DVDRs Ive been using recently but I bought new ones of the same brand and they still dont work. Today, I uninstalled my other burning programs and installed and tried to burn a -DVDr with Nero Express 7.5 @ 8x, 6x, 4x, & 2x speeds to see if it would work. The following log was saved. Someone please help me and suggest what I should do because getting a new burner is a lil extreme after Ive only had this laptop for 4 months. Hope to hear from some people soon. This isn't the best laptop burner iirc. I think it might actually be based on a Meditek drive and not a true Optiarc design. Gateway was putting this thing in its laptops. Is that what you have, a Gateway lappy? I'd try some different media like Verbatim and also try +R instead of -R. It seems as though there are more problems these days with burning -R media than +R media for some reason. Check Gateway support for a firmware update for your burner. It should be under warranty yet if the laptop is only 4 months old.
If it isn't what laddyboy said, is this a clean install on your laptop? If I remember correctly, on my Vista install, the WinASPI was not installed and not needed by Vista. Also, it appears you are using the first version of Nero written to work with Vista. I would suggest you do a uninstall using the clean tools and then install the latest version of Nero 7. I know, that is what we always say, but many times it will remove problems that have gotten into the system.
