i am using file sharing programs and i downloaded the windows vista O/S. The extention is in iso, but how do u extract / open iso files and install it for a new operating system when u format?[/QUOTE] how does the file read after u burn it to dvd? would it be like an original rar file folder where it would have windows vista.exe and then it would show the read me file, keygen, license and setup and stuff like that? when i format i usually load win 98 (thats the original restore cd) and then from there put xp disk in, extract all files to a temp file click setup and type in the keygen and then it takes off for 65min. will it be that easy? i need more info please what i dont want to have happen is to go ahead and format, load win 98 and then after that is done (within 45min) i find out that that disk with windows vista i burned did not work for some reason or its not compatable and then i would have to go back to good ol’ xp. i have nero 6 also maybe it would be easier with a step by step guide of how to put THIS O/S on after u format? i know how to do it with xp. Thanks
You must burn your iso file to a DVD you can use Nero or free program Imgburn. http://www.imgburn.com You then load it as you would any MS OS, put the disk in and boot from it and Vista will load. You must have the SN or you will not be able to load Vista, I had to register by email to get the SN and it must be for the exact version you downloaded. Also you have the choice of a clean install or you can keep Vista will do a backup of your old OS and then load. Why do you want to do this, I have tried the Beta Vista and was not thrilled with it. It still has bugs and many programs will not run with it because they are not Vista compliant. Also, there is the chance that your hardware will also not work correctly. I had to do a search on the internet to get Vista to install my Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum because Vista would not install the software and none of the SB programs would work. The only thing that worked well on Vista was the internet and that got boring. Nero 7 would not work, but Nero 6 worked somewhat. Unless you like to be adventureous then keep you old OS and wait for the working version of Vista, otherwise you will just be reformating again shortly and putting XP/98 or whatever back in.
