windows vista photo viewing

    if i drag a photo from my camera to the desktop for example and double click on it to open, it opens a folder called windows photo gallery and all the pictures in there and not the photo i clicked on, how do i stop this and get it just to open the photo i clicked on any photo seems to act like a short cut to windows photo gallery.

    please please please help

    windows vista all the updates are done
