Hey all - I recently bought a laptop, which had Vista already installed on it - much to my dismay.

I WANT XP back, but when I try to run the recovery disc, the comp wouldn't recognise it, so wouldn't launch when booting up, and instead carried on loading windows as if nothing was there (CD ROM drive is fine etc).

Can anyone suggest if I need to do anything in particular, since it's a laptop? :-s

I don't have anything on comp which I need to keep etc, just want Vista off - any help much appreciated!

Sorry for not posting correctly, and many thanx for relocating :)

Yeah, the BIOS etc is fine. Basically, because the recoverydidn't seem to be read, I put the XP CD in so that I could maybe delete the partition, then install XP, and it booted it up fine. However, when it came to the part to delete partition, there was no partition to delete!

The recovery disk I am using is the one which came with the laptop, and I haven't used the recovery disk ever before doing this.

Hope this helps clear the situation I'm in, and thanx for the quick replies ^ ^

LOL, let me clear this up...

You said that you are using the recovery disc that came with the laptop, the VISTA recovery disc? First its VISTA so you can't restore XP if its not an XP disc...

Second, if you want XP on your labtop your going to have to buy a copy of XP and install it.

    heh, noobs...
