If it is set to bit shift windows won't boot i just get an error saying a disc error occured press ctrl alt del to restart but if i change the settings in the bios to lba assist or anything that isnt bit shift it works fine it works until i shut the computer down because the settings go back to bit shift any ideas?

Hey, if you saved your setting in the bios properly they should stick. Make sure you save them...usually F10 on most boards. Is your date and time slowing or resetting? Maybe the cmos battery needs changing.
