windows wont update!

    yeah so ive got the updates and all but while its updating it says 'win32 encounterd a problem and needs to close....' then it closes? my computer is a legit version of xp ive never rebooted came with the pc so theres nothing wrong with that. why is it doing this?

    Run Check Disk. Start > Run > type chkdsk > click OK.

    What is the reason it gives for the error?
