I have an hp pavilion a1120n and when you turn it on, it comes up to the screen that has system recovery option, settings screen and will go no further. I swapped out the hard drive with another and it did the same thing. I do not get any beep codes when I turn it on. Was wondering if anyone could steer me in the right direction. Thought that maybe the bios was bad or maybe the ram but shouldn't that give me a beep? Any info would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I have windows disk and when I put it in I still get the same thing. esc for boot f1 for setup and f10 for recovery. Everything is nonresponsive except when you push the f1 button. It says entering setup but never does. I cannot change the boot order to run the windows disk. I noticed that when you press the power button, shut down is immediate, no 3 second delay like most computers. Just not sure what to do here. Not sure if any of that could help with diagnoses or not, but that is where I am. Thanks

sounds like the recovery partition is buggered as ran into that a couple of time recently. can you go in the bios & change the boot sequence so that the rom drive is 1st then the hd?
