I have a PC that is several years old and it is starting to give more software problems than imagineable. I have dicided that the best way to go is back up all my info and wipe the computer clean, OS hard drive and all. What is the best way to do this( and the safestand easiest). My computer is a Sony Vaio and i have the Windows XP disk that is made especialy for it. I also have about 6 other disks with driver info and programs on it.

Backup your files, boot from XP CD, format the drive NTFS (not quick) and install as normal. Make sure you have COA with XP CD Key on it before you install otherwise you will NOT have a working OS. Also, you may want to use a program such as killdisk, to completly destroy partition table and other information before you use windows to format, if you suspect some sort of virus or other related problem that could infect mbr or partition table.
