hello I got a problem about the user of windows xp.
I started up my computer as usual and all of my icons on the desktop
dissappeared, there were only 4 icons left that were mozilla, adobe reader, and two more.
my computer advisor told me that i got problems with the user, so
we removed the main user, and we did a new user. Now when i start up my windows xp a message appears that it wont let me log in, i press ok on the message, and the new user we created appeared, and it worked well, after a day, i turned on the xp, the message came again and went away, and the xp freezed at the message WINDOWS XP STARTING UP...
anyone could help me out here, how can i make windows xp wont find the old user, and boot up with the new user, help thanks

what the message you were getting? i expect that it was important...

however, now that it wont even get to the login screen i expect its cheesed so bad that a repair using the windows xp installation cd-rom is the only option you have...

do you have the windows xp installation cd-rom?

    thanks for the reply.
    the message says
that cannot log me in, i supposed its still finding the old user
instead of the new user we did.
do you mean i have to format the windows again?

"the message says that cannot log me in" - you say that as if you are still getting the message...

"i supposed its still finding the old user" - what makes you think this?

"instead of the new user we did." - how did you set up the new user?

have you tried logging with the new users details?

we have deleted the old user, and we did another user we name it "PC 01 user", when we restart or turn off the computer and turn it on again, a message appears, that is trying to log onto the old user i press OK on the message and it will log me in, normal on the new user.
but 2 days later i turned it on, and the message appeared for a split of a second, and the STARTING UP WINDOWS screen appeared, and freezed, it stopped loading, i just found out that when you press CTRL ALT and ECS, i can bring that message again and press ok and it logs me in, thats the only choice i have for this momoent, but im afraid that in the future wont accept either and the windows wont run. this is weird!!!

so you didnt use the 'user accounts' control panel to remove the old user and create the new one..?

If you just go around deleting files then your going to get problems like this...

if you are indeed unable to get the computer past 'WINDOWS XP STARTING UP... ' then you need to find someone who knows how to fix PCs properly because if your friend did just deleted the files, i suspect he may not be so knowledgeable with WindowsXP computers as you think (but at least he was willing to try)...

your next option is to locate your WindowsXP installation CD, start the computer from it and use it to Repair WindowsXP... and if that fails then a fresh installation of WindowsXP is the final option...

    have fun!
