WinXP compatibility issues? :(

Nero 4 was accidentally installed onto my laptops, both of which run Windows XP. One is a Toshiba Satellite, and the other is a Dell Latitude. Now, because of the incompatibility issues with Nero 4 and XP, my CD Burner won't register on *any* burning program.

I have already used the Nero cleaning tools, and I've already tried a system restore. Neither worked.

Short of reinstalling Windows, what can fix this?

 

Try repairing windows xp. That should work.

 

How do you do that?

 

1. Press install windows xp
2. Select upgrade.
3. Not sure what comes next but a choice to repair windows is there, select that and continue.
