    Hi All

Today I purchased a new laptop running windows vista, I have a D - Link Dir 635 router which I have two computers both running windows xp connected to fine.

I can not connect the lapotop running vista to my network unless I take of all the security on the router.

The laptop picks up the network connection no problem it picks up it has WPA security prompts me to enter the passcode which I do but it then comes up that I have entered the wrong key??

It is very strange but like I have said before take the security off the router it works fine.

Does anyone have ideas your help would be great

    Adam

Sounds like you don't have the right security setting in your laptop, obviously. There are alot of different security settings and encryption. Open the wireless config page for the router on the xp machine and look setting per setting to verify the vista machine is set right. ie WPA, WEP, WPA-PSK, WPA2 there are a few. make sure they match.

I don't have your particular router but another maker and model. I had difficulty getting my iBook connected through security too. I instead set the router to allow only my computers by their individual MAC addresses, which every Ethernet and WiFi interface has coded into them at the factory. Once I set up my router in this manner everything is working beautifully and I am assured that nobody is riding my wireless connection and bogging me down. I also turned off remote router setup to keep hackers from reconfiguring my setup and allow their machines to connect.
