Windows XP I'm assuming? You just need to set up a workgroup with file and print sharing. Then share a directory/drive on each machine and you will be fine. Best bet for a tutorial on this is (dont flame me here guys) Microsofts website.

It should only take about 15 minutes to set up all 3 machines to share data.

    Good luck.

ok iv setup file sharing know the drives on the laptops have a hand at the bottem which was not there before so i think it means its sharing but when i go onto the desktop pc and click on view network group and then click on laptop 1 or 2 it says "not accessible you might not have permission to use the nework resource contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have permission" whats going on?

Hi, make sure you are logging into an Administrators account. Create Administrators accounts on all machines and then you will have full permissions and rights.

^^^^ He's right. You need to allow access to these shared drives. If you use the same username and password on all the machines, you should be OK. Logging in as Administrator will work too, but its not usually recommended to use this account as an everyday account. If you only need to occasionaly move files its fine. But if you want open access to these drives, you need to properly set up user accounts and permissions.

easy way is download winRAR and zip them, you can password protect them before the actual zipping, and it's all free
