    Hi Guys

I have a Toshiba Satellite L300-07R and it came with Vista. I downgraded it to XP Pro, and made sure all the drivers were available b4 i downgraded.

Everything works fine EXCEPT the wireless. I cant connect to the internet except with an ethernet wire in my laptop. I try to connect using Toshiba Configfree, but it says ''Please turn on the wireless device''.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Atheros wireless network driver, but no cigar.

Ive got a dual core processor, 200GB HDD.

    PLEASE HELP ME

what did you do when the wizard came up? what did the software do when you ran it, install to a folder or what?

    Hey ddp

when the wizard came up, I cancelled it because the atheros wireless network client said to cancel it if it comes up. When it installs, it says: "insert the device, or click next if it is already inserted". Im guessing that since its an integrated wireless card, its already inserted in my laptop, so i click next.

The software installed the driver to the C: i believe, but i cant really tell because the atheros wireless network client software, that you provided, itself had a wizard to install the driver. So i am not sure where it installed it.

    Thanks

Yes the computer installed them automatically.

Could it be because of service pack 3?

    should I un-install that?

    Hey guys

    I SOLVED IT

It wasnt XP Service Pack 3, it was the actual driver that the Toshiba website provided!

I read the manual (go figure, lol) and it said my wireless card was an Atheros AR9281.

I googled its drivers, d'loaded em, and installed it.

    Then BRAVO!

Anyone else having a problem send me a PM or email me at *email removed*

Thanks for taking out the time, ddp!

Odd isn't it.. I had the exact same problem with the drivers for this atheros chipset a few weeks ago.. It seems there are 2 revisions kicking about.

I took my cue from what sabayon said it was using (which worked out of the box btw) and downloaded both and tried one after the other. (acer fista home basic lump of junk.. ran sabayon way better than xp even)
