Don't the notebook cards from phone services like verizon just work like phones (you don't need a a router or modem, it's just wireless internet access anywhere)?

Ya, well I want to put a computer with internet access in a house in the mountains, but my isp doesn't provide service to it and I think the phone lines were layed too long ago, so dsl isn't an option. So I was just wondering if there is any other way to get internet access up there.

That wireless card you shown us is a satelite wireless card. They only work in the major cities and service costs about $80 a month. If, however you do not want a router or whatever, go for it.

Read this article: This is what that card is for:

I hope it has cleared up a few things.
