wireless router

    ok ihave cable hooked to my pc.next week i will be putting one upstairs and want to hook to internet like the one downstairs ????do i need a wireless router and what else do i need ??????? do any of you know were i can buy a decent one that is fairly cheap???????
    or is there other ways to do this?????????

    yes the easiest way is a wireless router, unless you can run a cable upstairs to connect the computer to the router, in which case you just need a regular router, not a wireless one. if you choose to go wireless, you of course need a wireless card for your computer. if it is a laptop you can get a PCMIA card one, or if it is a desktop/tower you can get a PCI card one. as far as wireless routers go, I recommend linksys, they're one of the best. the cheapest place to get one would be online. try newegg.com or tigerdirect.com

    I vote just the same...Linksys, there are many features you can adjust with Linksys and this is what I use....But this is just me.

    you probably don't, seeing as desktop computers don't come with wireless built in...only laptops do. but just to make sure, check the device manager under system in the control panel

    or the other way to check for a wirless card on a desktop/tower would be to see if it has an antena sticking out of it lol! my pc has a wireless card and it has this little antena thingy sticking out the back.
