I would go with the pioneer drive due to it being reliable and never fails me. I have 2 pioneer drives and havent come across any problems. But mayb you can post the specs on the 2 drives in question and we can make a more valued call.
If bitsetting is important and you aren't into flashing rpc1.org hacked firmware, then neither one. Maybe a Lite-On or Benq is right for you. I have the NEC and it's AWESOME. But the Pioneer gets good reviews and is good if you need DVD-RAM support (depending on the 111 version). Flip a coin or play Eeeny-Meeny.
