I followed the instruction in the excellent "How to play flac" article (http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/how_to_play_flac_files.cfm) to install flac support in Windows Media Player 11. The install of the OGG Directshow Filter and WMP Tag Support Extender plugin both appeared to work without issue. However, the plugin isn't showing in WMP. For whatever reason WMP isn't recognizing or supporting the plugin. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling it several times. And did both soft and hard reboots after each install, but to no avail. The WMP Tag Extender simply doesn't show as a WMP plugin. FYI, my system is Vista SP2 x64 running WMP 11.0.6002.18111 Any ideas what's wrong or how I can get WMP to recognize the Win Tag Extender plugin?
Did you by any chance try the recommended'Easiest playback methods,VLC, foobar2k, also on the same "excellent article/guide?..There's also MediaMonkey, WinAmp, J-River..
smithmum, it's possible that you are using the 64-bit version of WMP, which isn't supported by the WMP Tag Support Extender plug-in. To launch 32-bit WMP, or to set it back as the default, see http://www.vista123.net/content/switch-change-or-set-64-bit-wmp11-vista-x64-default If you are still experiencing problems with WMP Tag Support Extender after switching, then I would suggest to use the WMP Tag Plus plug-in instead: http://bmproductions.fixnum.org/wmptagplus
