I got wmv and avi files i want to convert, how do i do it? also, i want to add dvds to my ipod. i cant pay for any software. is their a program thats not a trial or washed down version?

Ignore the post above, he's selling software to you. Try videora + handbrake, Videora is able to convert video files to ipod video format. Handbrake can rip dvds into mp4 format for iPod. You needn't buy anything.
yes in itunes select ipod in source list then photos then untick the box that says sync photos to ipod and then they should be deleted.
