Ok, I have surfed the web for hours and searched the threads to no avail. Every time I try to start windows it goes through all the boot steps and right before starting windows, goes to the blue screen of death for a mili-second then to the boot options screen. I have tried all the options provided with the same results more boot options. There is critical data on my HDD compiled from 3 weeks of R.O.V. work and I can't lose it, so reformatting is not an option. The hdd isnit clicking so I think it may be a driver problem. We were listening to frank Sinatra (Not my choice) when the computer (A Phillips Freevents x56)froze up.

I have been so many places I can't remember where I have posted so if this is a double post please forgive me.

Did you try Safe Mode? If that does not work, you can try to repair it with the Windows CD.

It sounds like your MBR is corrupted which could have happened via a new install of hardware drivers, bug or virus. I'd advise you to go into your bios, set your boot to cdrom, save it and exit with your Windows OS disk in the cdrom drive. When it reboots, it will ask you to press any key to boot to cdrom which you should do. Once you boot to your Windows disk, it will ask you if you want to repair or do a new install. You can try and do a repair, if this doesn't work, You will have to choose a new install but be warned, if you have a trojan or bug of some kind, you might want to repartition, then reformat your hard drive first as this is the only way I know of getting rid of everything on the hard drive including the MBR, bugs or any little trojans as well as everything else. You will have a totally clean hard drive wiped, scrubbed and ready for a fresh install. Hope this cures your problem

Not sure what a MBR is. We tried all we could think of and ended up reformatting and reinstalling. Works fine now. Thanks for everyone's help. Finished with this problem.
