Yeah, same old story. I was backing up a DVD I recorded off Tivo and shrinking the files using DVDShrink and it won't burn. THis is the first time I've ever had this problem. @jelboston - hi, logfile results below... - too old, update to latest, 6.6.0.16 - i can see 2.98 here http://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/3500.html, but not here - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1904 I will leave it to someone else to someone else more familiar with the 3500A, to suggest best firmware to update to, from 2.98 - yup, Nero is too old to properly recognise your burner - you're burning too close to the outer edge of discs. In DVD Shrink, set target size in Shrink's preferences to 4300MB, thus avoiding outer edge of discs and not sacrificing much space - burner's firmware is out of date, as the best the firmware can tell re this disc is that it's a +R. we need to get the burner's firmware updated - see previous comment - see here for Power Calibration errors - - quote from ' http://www.nero.com/en/FAQs_Error_Messages.html#9 ' - - most people recommend 4x max
Thanks for the thorough analysis. I should have been less of a noob and read everybody else's postings first before posting, so I apologize to you and for wasting space. I ended up doing the following- used better media (some MIJ I had lying around) and bumped down the shrink file to 4.35 GB and that worked. I'll upgrade the firmware and at some point when I have the $$$ to the newer Nero soon. Thanks again Creaky.
