Today, downloaded and installed both DVDShrink and DVD Decrypter. Now have a folder called Video_TS. What is next step?? I bought a program called MovieFactory 6 Plus but it does not recognize files in Video_TS folder. Appreciate any help.
Video_ts is the files you burn to a dvd disk that contains the movie. Instead of dvd decrypter, use imgburn to burn your movies.
Rip the DVD to a folder using 'DVDFab HD Decrypter' Open the folder with 'DVD Shrink'. Click 'Backup' and save the shrinked files to a new folder. Burn that folder using 'Imgburn'. http://www.videohelp.com/tools/DVDFab_Decrypter http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/imgburn.cfm Look in 'Guides' for tutorials.
I thank you both for your replys. It seems I failed to make myself clear, as usual. I am trying to remove the ads that are at the beginning of a movie. Never doing this before, I "thought" I could put a copy of the movie to my hard drive saved in a "avi or mpeg" format. Was hoping DVDShrink would do this. Moviefractory 6 reads avi amd mpeg formats. Is there some software you recommend that would convert the video_ts folder to the desired avi or mpeg format? Simple and Free is good! Or am I still going in the wrong direction?
Are you trying to copy the movie to your HDD from a disk? If so you can use dvdfab HD decrypter (free) to rip the disk, using the "main movie" feature. It will rip only the movie to your HDD. To convert a movie from video_ts folder to avi format you need to use autogk. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd_to_avi_using_autogk.cfm
Open the ripped DVD, as is, in DVD Shrink, reauthor as Movie Only. If there is stuff at the start you don't want use the trim function (Set Start/End frames) then Backup as an ISO and burn with Decrypter.
Found the solution to my problem. A program called "Magic DVD Ripper v5.4". Put the DVD into the computer tray, and it does everything for you. Converts to avi, mpeg, and others. The hardest thing required is to click the setup icon. That simple. I would like to know if there is a "freeware" available that does this. Thanks for all the replys.
It would seem that rtm27 and creaky both referred you to free tools and guides to rip and convert to AVI. Another useful free tool if it's mpegs you need is VOB2MPG. VOB2MPG converts your DVD to MPG file(s). It goes through a whole DVD VIDEO_TS folder and joins up the various vobsets to produce MPGs for the different titles.
