Would this be a good way to go about it?

it should work, another guy recently used the same setup and he said it worked.

it seems a lot of work, but it should work.

off course, if you have the softmodded files of your version xbox already (c-cheater files that are also floating around on this forum), you only have to create the hdm disk with those files. then hotswap your xbox hdd and connect it to your pc. then run the hdm disc from your pc and when your done put the hdd back into your xbox and power your xbox off (when you connected your hdd back). then power up and you have a softmodded drive.

just check the hdm tutorial for the instructions where the c and e files go to (the once of f.i. the c-cheater files). if you hotswap, you do not need the eeprom.bin file if, the drive will lock automatically when you put it back into your xbox and then power down your xbox. so with the hotswap method you do not have to bother with getting the eeprom and you can skip that part.
