Question: World of Warcraft on an Intel GMA 950?

It's the fastest card I could get with this particular laptop.
The rest of the specs are pretty good: Intel Duo 2.0Ghz with 2gig Ram

This is a company laptop so geting something with another card in it just isn't an option. i already pushed it to get as much laptop as I did. There was no way to justify (business wise) getting a better video processor so i'm stuck.

Am I going to want to pull my eyes out when I fire up WoW? Does anyone else run WoW on this hardware?

    Thanks!

That is actually a integrated graphics card which means it won't do you any good in demanding games, but I can tell you it going to suck big time. Sorry for the dissappointment.

True.. I'm not expecting anything great out of it. I'm just wondering HOW painful it's going to be. I know a couple friends who play WoW on a laptop from time to time, and even though it's not great, it's more than playable.

i used to have an intel 910 and it could play gta san andreas so i tinhk that is ok.it wouldnt play any demanding games since it is not a 3d accelerator card.

Ok that is good news. I wouldn't consider WoW very demanding... it's not easy on a card.. but I wouldn't consider it demanding by todays standards..

Now I have hope again. thank you!

As stated above your not going to get much out of it with newer games. But, with WoW, you won't want to "pull your eyes out". :) If I can play Half Life 2 on medium graphics with an Intel Extreme II, I'm sure Wow will be no problem on a GMA 950.

Here are the specs for WoW:

    Processor: 800MHz or higher CPU.
    RAM: 256Mb or more.
    [bold]Video: GeForce 2 or better[/bold]
Hard Drive Space: 3Gb or more available.
    DirectX 9.0 or above.

As you can see, you will be able to play WoW on probably medium or slightly higher graphics.

Thank you very much for all your help and comments. Sounds like everthing is going to work out just fine. The laptop is due to arrive this week, once I load WoW on it I will let you know how it turned out.

    Very helpful. Thanks again.
