I know this has been asked, but I can't find the solution to this error. Up until a week or so ago, I could burn anything I wanted on my DVD burner. Now, I can't burn movies or image files (which are movies). I can burn data and audio, but not movies. Nero will get all the way to 100% and then say "burn process failes at 8X". So will every other program I have. I have never had a problem before. The only thing I can think of that I have done new is to update Nero to 6.6.0.15 (Nero 6 Express). I have tried im DMA and PIO, neither working. Here is the log file from the latest attempt: Hope Baldwin Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 10/26/2004 6:35:34 PM Nero Version: 6.6.0.15 Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 15h (Nero Express) Recorder: <DVDRW IDE 16X> Version: A089 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.15 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <DVDRW IDE 16X >Version: A089 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.15 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : WDC WD200EB-00CSF0 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off DiskPeripheral : WDC WD400BB-00CAA1 atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: Off CdRomPeripheral : DVDRW IDE 16X atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: Off === CDRom-Device-Map === DVDRW IDE 16X E: CDRom0 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 70254592 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 479MB (490996kB) Free physical memory: 73MB (74900kB) Memory in use : 84 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 27.7.2005 CueSheet 1:54:56 AM #1 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 2946 DVDRW IDE 16X Super Link activated 1:54:56 AM #2 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 1:54:56 AM #3 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer DVDRW IDE 16X running 1:54:56 AM #4 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3231 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using CD-R/RW media 1:54:57 AM #5 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 269 Last possible write address on media: 359848 ( 79:59.73) Last address to be written: 351221 ( 78:04.71) 1:54:57 AM #6 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 281 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 1:54:57 AM #7 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2477 Recorder: DVDRW IDE 16X; My burner is new and has been working fine.
This may not be your problem, but you DEFINITELY need to free up some memory. Shut down some of those programs running in the background...
All your DMA is off, you need to get this turned back on. See this guide. http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/checking DMA.pdf Try better media, like Verbatim, Sony, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden. Why were you using a CDRW, were you burning data, or music? Slow it down, to 4x. Don't know if you are up to date in firmware, you will have to google on your burner because this make could be anything, it is generic. Also the amount of memory was already mentioned by teflonmyk, you really need to shut some programs down, and no multi-tasking while burning. No Internet usage.
Thanks for the responses everyone.......I was trying to burn a vcd and a DVD.......I can still burn data and audio cd's. i have tried it with DMA and without dma. here is a screen shot of what my IDE properties are showing me: auto detection, dma if available and "not applicable". This is showing on device 0 and 1...on both primary and secondary IDE. As far as the memory usage goes, that is common and has never caused a problem before. The CDRW on the log, well, I don;t know. I just know that I have never had a problem before, and now I do, with no changes except updating to NERO Express 6.
