I know this has been asked, but I can't find the solution to this error. Up until a week or so ago, I could burn anything I wanted on my DVD burner. Now, I can't burn movies or image files (which are movies). I can burn data and audio, but not movies. Nero will get all the way to 100% and then say "burn process failes at 8X". So will every other program I have. I have never had a problem before. The only thing I can think of that I have done new is to update Nero to 6.6.0.15 (Nero 6 Express). I have tried im DMA and PIO, neither working. Here is the log file from the latest attempt:

This may not be your problem, but you DEFINITELY need to free up some memory. Shut down some of those programs running in the background...

All your DMA is off, you need to get this turned back on. See this guide.

    http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/checking DMA.pdf

Try better media, like Verbatim, Sony, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden. Why were you using a CDRW, were you burning data, or music?

    Slow it down, to 4x.

Don't know if you are up to date in firmware, you will have to google on your burner because this make could be anything, it is generic.

Also the amount of memory was already mentioned by teflonmyk, you really need to shut some programs down, and no multi-tasking while burning. No Internet usage.

Thanks for the responses everyone.......I was trying to burn a vcd and a DVD.......I can still burn data and audio cd's. i have tried it with DMA and without dma. here is a screen shot of what my IDE properties are showing me: auto detection, dma if available and "not applicable". This is showing on device 0 and 1...on both primary and secondary IDE. As far as the memory usage goes, that is common and has never caused a problem before. The CDRW on the log, well, I don;t know. I just know that I have never had a problem before, and now I do, with no changes except updating to NERO Express 6.
