write speed not working

    im using a ddvdrw8d ide1008 f:0055 8x and for some reason its not letting me choose the write speed i want to use it just stays on 2x when i change it im running dvd decrypter dvd shrink anydvd dvdfab decrypter also using ritek go5 dvd-r 8x media what can i do to correct this problem wow thanks in advance

    I'm not sure I understand the problem. Do you mean when you change the speed to 4X, it actually burns at 2X anyway or do you mean it won't allow any speed other than 2X to be selected?

    As you can see, the newest firmware is 0060. You have 0055. You might consider updating.

    Your problem sounds similar to one I encountered with a Lite On 165H6S. I could choose any speed to burn at (I tried them all) but the resulting burn was always 3x and, sometimes, the dvd's would stop and start in my standalone (not always). After finding out how lousy their support was and trying all their suggestions, I pulled the drive, returned it and installed another make. Problem solved. Hopefully, a firmware update will work for you but, if not, it may be a defective drive.

    yes laddyboy it burned at 2x (selected 4x actual burn 2x) but anyway i tried the update flash and it corrected the problem thanks again laddyboy and mistycat.
