    Hi

I've been having lots of trouble with a system and my last resort is to write zeros to the hard disk and try a reinstall of windows. The hard disk is a maxtor 6y120po. I was advised to download maxtors formatting utility to do this, so I downloaded maxblast4 for windows, but this does not enable one to write zero's to the disk. I tried downloading their bootable floppy version and creating a floppy, this is when I remembered an old problem I have with this system. The floppy just doesnt seem to work. It's all connected up fine, data and power cables, but whenever I try to read a floppy or format it says something like "this disk is not formatted, do you want to format it now?", if I say yes it says "cannot format this disk". Same thing on all floppies. I wouldnt mind sorting the floppy thing out too but mainly I'm just looking for a decent way to write zero's to the disk, maybe another utility that isnt maxtor? It's connected to this system but it's not the system drive. Any help much appreciated

    Thanks
