Hey there, been using a Pioneer DVR-108 for about 9 months or so, and over the last 2 days have encountered a strange problem. The writer has started to not recognize DVDs when inserted, but continues to work perfectly with ordinary blank CDs. I normally use Nero to burn both DVD and audio CDs, and can still burn audio in both my old Toshiba CD writer and the Pioneer DVD writer, but not DVDs in the Pioneer. A friend reckons the Pioneer might be burnt out, but it is possible to burn it out on one format but not the other? HELP!
dascotguy, You might need to update your firmware to see if that helps. Did you change blank media? I use Verbatim and Taiyo Yudens w/ my 108 Pioneer Firmware Page http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/article/0,,2076_4273_128163990,00.html
Are these different or new DVD's from what you have previously used? It is possible you may need to update your drives firmware for it to recognize newer media. Your best bet for this is to go to the manufacturers website http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/article/0,,2076_4273_128163990,00.html EDIT: Dang how did that happen? Carmike's reply wasent there and now it is.. Well we both basically said the same thing.. Good job carmike
I've had that problem, when running 2 shrink or DDVD. I have to wait until the light goes out on the drive then open program.
