Hello to all who read this. I am currently on my neighbors WRT54G router via wireless, andihave access to the admin setup page, but im having trouble with setting up the ftp part. No i do have an ftp server set up internally, but i need toknow how to set the router up so that someone out side of the WRT54G network can access it? I know it can be done, I have done it on my netgear wireless router. Imjust not familuare with linksys.
First off, if you dont have permission to be on this router, and you are using the internet, then this is theft and there will be no help for you here. Why do you want to set up remote management on the router anyway? ~Rich
I do have permission, its my neighbor. Iv helped him a lot with his computer, and i give you money to help pay for it. He isnt very computer savey so i got on the linksys website and found the default user name and password to log into the router and set it up for encryption so no one else can log into it. Un fortunalty his setup process is a little different than my netgear wireless router, and i cant port forward on his like i can on mine. I want to do this so my father in NY can access my comp here in AK.
thanks for the web link. after i get it setup like the site shows, How do i find out the ip address to my comp from an outside source?
You can get your public IP from the Status page on linksys routers. Sorry about my first post.......just wanted to make sure you werent doing anything malicious. ~Rich
you need to set yourself a static ip I use 192.168.1.200 cos thats gives everyone else a number before mine then you need to set up the dmz to your ip then you need to use a third party host like no-ip to redirect traffic to your ftp
how do i set my ip address to 192.168.1.200? and what is DMZ? this is far more complicated than my netgear wireless router
