    Hi

I just wanted to know if this x264 format is any good. I have seen downloads for blue-ray and hd-dvd movies in x264 1080i.

The original blue ray disc could be 24 gigs where the x264 version might only be 10.

My question is, if this is a compressed format surely the quality aint as good?

Therefore it is a waste of time because it wont be the true quality of a HD movie at 1080i.

    Am I wrong?

    Thanks in advance

well; I can assure you it won't be as good as the source; nothing ever will be; because there'll always be compression taking place.

But, the x264 codec was originally designed to work good with low bitrates; so theoretically; the quality loss is a lot less in terms of DL size as opposed to say xvid/divx.

But, I'll definitely say that it won't be a waste of your time getting them because I can assure you either way the movie will look great for being a backup.
