I'm trying to install XBMC on my sons XBox following the official guide here http://manual.xboxmediacenter.de/wakka.php?wakka=XBMCAsDash.The only problem is i know i've got to overwrite the "unofficial" dash board so the box boots using XBMC, leaving the original(M$) 1 intact. However what i would consider as being the Evox dash [Bold]msxboxdash.xbe[bold/] is 1.33 Mb & the original (M$)[bold]xboxdash.xbe[bold/]is only 656Kb.This is at odds with the screenshot showing the(M$)dash as being 1.33Mb & the unofficial one as 656 Kb. Is there any way these 2 have been reversed so the box boots up? (I didn't mod the box), i really need 2 know which one to overwrite without shafting the box. Help gratefully recieved! using an executor 2 with evo6, haven't a clue what the bios is. Thnx in advance.
So you have softmod. Can you still boot the xbox? Do you have error code now? Do you have Slayer or AID? For evox, it is the evoxdash.xbe. for ms dash, it is xboxdash.xbe.
No the xbox has a modchip on it Executer2 & runs Evox6 software(DASHBOARD). I know i have to replace the Evox by overwriting the evox.xbe to run XBMC, however the exox XBE isn't clearly marked ie "EVOXDASH.XBE", and to make matters worse the dash which i would consider 2 be the original one XBOXDASH.XBE is only 656Kb in size, where as the one i would think is the Evox dash MSXBOXDASH.XBE is 1.33Mb in size. I just wonder if whoever modded the box has swapped the filenames around to get the box to boot?
@zowdre Yes you are right, someone swapped them around. So the main key here is the bios. The bios only loads the xboxdash.xbe. That is why he renamed the "evoxdash.xbe" to "xboxdash.xbe". And original ms dash "xboxdash.xbe" to "msxboxdash.xbe". The evoxdash.xbe is around 600-700Kb The xboxdash.xbe is around 1.3-1.4MB But you can always load xbmc through evox dash like an apps.
@X4Life You gotto be careful if you tell him to delete something. You dont know what is going on with his xbox. If he does what you said, then the xbox wont boot up. Because the xbox cant find a dashboard. In this case, the bios wont read Evoxdash.xbe.
@zowdre If you really want to use XBMC as a dashboard, Just ftp the all files and folders of XBMC to root of C drive. Then rename xboxdash.xbe 656Kb to Evoxdash.xbe. Then rename default.xbe (XBMC) to xboxdash.xbe.
[bold]@ The Return & Everybody Else Who Posted[bold/] Thanks guys, The Return confirmed my suspicions, the Evox dash was renamed as XBOXDASH.XBE to allow the bios to load. I renamed XBMC.XBE as XBOXDASH.XBE and FTP'd over to the hard drive, it booted up with no probs into XBMC. Like to take the time to thank you all and recommend XBMC, although it'll take me years to use all the features ;-) Thanks zowdre
@ The Return yeh u r right my bad but the reason i said that its coz the C drive its really samll and he might not be able to put XBMC on the C drive My Bad
