Easy peeps i need major help here. I will bow down to your wisdom if you can solve this. situation. i have xbox with xbmc installed wired to pc via cable with duplex cable, pc can ping xbox fine flash xp detects xbox, all drives are on share network. simple file sharing is ticked, so far i have tried to create a xbox account with file sharing not worked. xbmc can read the workgroup through smb workgroup, i can go to computer name fine also, i can enter directories fine also. i can view files also. but here is the crunch if i click on a folder it says lock prefrences ???? something the rest is not shown it asks for a user name and password but there is none. If i click on a file that is not in a folder it does not say anything it will not let me open or run file ie divx file or mpg or something. i have tried just about everything on xbox forum settings just wondering if anyone can help the nights are so lonley without the xbox man!!!!
Not a big mystery champ! Firstly, turn off 'Simple File Sharing' it's a pain in the arse! Secondly, you'll need to create permissions on the PC for Xbox to communicate with! My networking tutorial will show you how to set it up. Also, if you scroll to page 4 on that thread, you can see the optimal settings (except my IP Address) for XBMC!
