I just obtained an Xbox 360 Pro here in Canada. I would like to mod it so that i can play all my backup games. According to a site after looking at the dvd tray it claims my DVD drive is a Hitachi LG (I havent opened the xbox chasis yet to confirm make/model). My understanding is to achive 100% backup game playability one only needs to reflash the DVD player firmware with a hacked version (http://www.biline.ca/360_mod.htm) and done.

Is this true? Is there more that needs to be done before the X360 can play backups or is dvd player firmware flashing all there is to it (no soldering or additional accessories) ?

And how is such a hack stand up to Xbox Live verfication? To me a firmware upgrade doesnt seem detectable as long as the right version # is sent back.

    Thanks

All you need to do is flash the drive, yes. There are good guides to help you with this.. I believe there's one by a guy calling himself "Textbook" - it's on Google.

Playing pirated games on Line *may* get you banned, I think (I'm not sure here..) you can play a copy of a game online if it's properly backed up. You may be banned for playing pirated copies that aren't properly made. Someone correct me on this if I'm wrong.

I simply unplugged the network to my Xbox and skipped online play.
