I've searched all over the interent, and although many have the same issue as me, I haven't been able to find a fix that has worked for me.

So, first things first. I have an XBOX 360. It's connected to my laptop by ethernet chord. My laptop is connected wirelessly to the router. I have internet connection on my laptop, and my XBOX 360 is able to sign into XBOX Live with ease.

When I go to my video or music folders on the XBOX, it recognizes my laptop instantly. Every file is visible. Now, here comes the problem. Whenever I click on a file, it eventually ends up with the message, "The connection to your computer was lost". My XBOX won't play ANY of my files. From movies, to shows, to simple mp3s. It just will not play.

I don't know what's wrong, or how to fix this.

I have media sharing turned on in WMP 11.

Its more of a work around than a solution, but give Tversity a try. Ive had the exact same problem in the past and TVersity resolved it.

there is also ps3mediaserver great program one of the best looking streams I've seen especially for 1080 mkv files but you have to have a strong processor for this one as the computer does the work not the xbox 360. There is also vuze not as strong but you can convert basic avi's and it will show up in the computer.
