Hey guys, need a little advice. ive been searching for this answer for weeks with no luck.

i currently have an ms25 toshiba drive flashed with xtreme 4.2. and i have the dashboard update 4532. very old. i want to update it to the newest one so i can play some of the newer games. my question is can i leave xtreme 4.2 or do i have to upgrade it? i dont care about xbox live and never plan to use it. the reason i dont want to use ixtreme 1.2 is because it only allows stealth patched games to run and i have many games that are not stealth patched. if i get banned from xbox live, will i still have the ability to download new updates?

any help is greatly appreciated, i hope to finally get a response and start playing some games

but would it still be ok to leave 4.2? i would like to avoid flashing any further. or does 5.2 have to be flashed for it to work with newer dashboards?

I have this, Pioneer 18X DVD±R DVD Burner Black E-IDE/ATAPI Model DVR-112D - OEM, and this, SYBA SY-VIA-150 PCI SATA / IDE Combo Controller Card, Non Raid - Retail in my shopping cart on newegg.

Is this all I need to buy to begin playing backups of games on my xbox 360 by following the tutorials on these forums? Or am I leaving something out? The FAQ confused me because it had PC DVDs listed that would read xbox 360 games, shouldn't the DVD burner read them on its own?

Also I'm assuming I can still play on xbox live, correct?

I'm new to this and I've been reading and reading but I guess untill I actually do it I will still be in the dark. Here are my questions in the mean time.
    1. Will I constantly need to have my xbox hooked up to my computer to play any type of game? Backup or original?

    2. After all the reading in everyones experiences which programs are the right ones to use. Especially for a beginner.

    3. What types of encounters should I watch out for that could purpose a problem?

I just want to thank EVERYONE for any information they have put into this. This is great and wouldn't be possible without everyone. Especially those who created the tutorials! Thank You

    1) No. The only time you need to have your 360 hooked up to your PC is when you are flashing the firmware. Other than that, you put it back together and play like normal.

    2) It depends on the type of drive you have. Personally, I use Maximus Toolbox for Hitachi flashing, MTKFLASH for Samsung, and iPrep for BenQ. However, follow the tutorials for each drive to the T. If you have any questions, ask them in the topics on the forum. The search function works wonders on this site. Use it to avoid people jumping down your throat, although on this forum, it's not really that bad. For burning backups, I personally use CloneCD. It's a quick and easy program, plus most backups you'll find come with a .DVD file which is used with CloneCD.

    3) As I said before, follow the tutorials to the T and you shouldn't encounter any problems. If you get stuck at a point, go back and read the instructions. I know for my first flash of each drive I skipped over a step or something stupid. Also, if you get stuck and the instructions aren't any help, simply type your problem into Google. Someone else is bound to have had the same problem you're having. Otherwise, just ask here on the forums.

Hey, I just have 3 questions:

    1) What SATA chip do I use with my laptop if I have a Samsung drive?

    2) Do you have to flash with the Kreon firmware then iXtreme?

    3) My 360 was flashed a while ago and I want to do it again myself with the updated firmware. Does it matter that I don't know what firmware I currently have?

    Thanks a lot

1)use a pc 99% of the time laptop wont work

2)no you flash your 360 drive with ixtreme, you flash your pc dvd drive with the kreon

    3)it shouldn't be a problem.

hi i just have couple of question

    1. so to rip game myself all the need is a dual layer dvd burner and SH-D163A or TS-H353A to read the xbox360 game to the computer before so i could burn it right?

    2. so the SH-D163A and TS-H353A already has the kreons 0.80 flashed from the manufacturer so i dont have it do it myself?

    3. where do ppl usully get their SH-D163A or TS-H353A and how much is the going price for them

    thank you very much.

    Hey people.
Im going to buy a Xbox 360 1.2v Premium and i plan on modding it. Since these are the newer versions what type of drive should i expect it wont be sammy and its 80% Benq? Also ive heard only ixtreme 1.1 is out for Benq not 1.2 or 1.3 are there any disadvantages with that?. Also can all kinds of 360 dvd drives be modded.
So far i know i need to buy sata card and sata cable, dl discs, croc clips, i have a burner, any thing else
