    hello,
i have the samsung sdh-162c dvd rom drive. i installed the drive and it has version 1.0 of the kreon firmware. when i put a xbox 360 disc in the drive and try to use xbox backup creator it does not recofnize a disc in the drive . i do not understand what is wrong with the drive . i purchased it off e-bay with the firmware already installed . have any of you on this site come across this problem before.

I'm reading through several threads and searches but I'm still a little unclear about the difference between the Globe 360 v2 Mod Chip and the Team Xecuter Blaster 360.

The Globe 360 seems like it has everything I need but the install would be the tough part.

Does the Blaster also have an on/off switch to avoid detection on XBOX Live?

the blaster is not a chip it is a device so you dont have to open your xbox again once you have installed and flashed it the first time...

    Theridges,

I know its a device you add onto the Xbox. I would need to open the XBox but it seems pretty easy compared to some of the chip soddering I've seen in the past.

But let's say I go with the Blaster and apply the firmware updates. Once MS figures out how to detect the firmware, wouldn't I be banned from XBL? The Globe 360 has an on/off switch, so as long as I don't accidently switch it on and go online I won't be banned... do I have this right or am I just smoking crack??

well if they figure out how to tell then yea we will all be out of luck but untill then firmware flashing is the way too go.

However iv loaded up my hitachi drive to mode b, got it viewable in windows opened up the firmware I used to flash it and typed RESTORE X and it says Hitachi Build not detected but I know that the hitachi drive is definatly the correct letter that I am using etc

You should be able to flash the drive normally without any problems, you will need a via 6421 chipset sata card to flash the drive if its a ms-28 though. Contact me if you need anymore info.

iXtreme 1.4 is the latest version, here are the details:
A new release of ixtreme firmware, for all versions of drive (except v78/79 hitachi, which maximus will release shortly)..
    Features
    (v1.4) Disc jitter fix

Note: Everyone is wondering why people were getting banned a few weeks back. Here is a short summary of our speculation:

There are specific timers within the challenge/response protocol that may be checked by MS to determine as criteria for banning. We believe they are measuring one or more to find discrepancies. While a lot of this is speculation, and a lot of data is inaccurate as far as replication due to different mechanics, there may be specific timers that can be easily read. One that we are focusing on has to do with the degree's of disc rotation, which will generate a sum (0,90,180,270) and embed that data within the Security Sector file. Now, we recently have noticed a change within games in regards to that Challenge/Response timer.

We recently found out that new games ripped with kreon drives will give back a degree, that in combination with ixtreme jitter, will produce a 360 degree value. This would be a unacceptable range (should only be 0-359). This is a detectable and possibly a criteria for the recent ban waves. Also, this would explain why some users got banned playing the same games that others played, and did not get banned. The point of jitter is to randomly give back proper values. With that in mind, a random jitter value from a kreon drive, with a random jitter from a ixtreme drive will rarely give back a 360 degree value. This new ixtreme will wrap that value to ensure that no 360 degree value can be submitted.

Now, a note of recommendation, due to statistical findings. We have spent days ripping *thousands* of security sector's with various drive/software combinations and have come to the following:

The most accurate/valid SS replication is done with a samsung drive using Schtrom 360 xtract or XBC. So far, we have seen only a very small percentage of 6701 rips in comparison to kreon. Now, given that, i think it is important to inform that this value was previously normal with older games. It may or may not be normal with *every* new game, but with some so far.
So, if you are planning on backing up your purchased games, please try to use samsung with schtrom 360 xtract or XBC for the most reliable replica possible!!!! This *could* mean the difference from being banned on xbox live, or not.

Now, as always, remember that you are modifying your console *at your own risk*. If you make a backup of your game and play it on xbox live, you will always run a risk of getting your console banned.

okay, on the iextreme 1.4 for the samsung, when i extract the file it has differnet x's for example 4 x, 6 x, 8 x, and 10x, i dont understand which X to use for the hacked firmware..

so for clarification, the best iextreme firmware for samsung now is 1.4, what about hikatichi, and benq, there are so many of them on the xbins, which firmware iextreme version out there that is best for hikatichi and the benq drive. thanks for the info.

as you can see, i am new to all of this, i started reading the book for dummies in terms of how to mod/flash xbox 360.

the way you flash samsung, is it the same concept how u flash hikatichi and benq drive? an example, first step going to xbins, drag the software to the left and then extract the bin in a winrar file. then use iprep or extreme boot maker?( which one is better)to load the bin u extracted into an usb memory stick. from there, you turn off ur pc, go to bios screen and make sure sata is enabled and that usb is on boot sequence screen. o ya where am i plugging the usb when I am finished with creating and formating it with iprep or extreme maker? am i plugging the usb memory stick to the PC or the xbox 360 USB? please verify and correct me if i am wrong.. thank you so much.
