My xbox 360 greening light flashing problem happened the same way as one of your guys: playing call of duty: waw. I first thought it is because the drive is too dusty inside, So I used vacuum to suck some dust out with the dvd drive, It worked twice, then it won't work. I noticed the the manual eject button is kind of loose from the dvd drive's own eject button when i removed the faceplate from the box. It seems that when you push the manual eject button, it will "drag" instead of "push" the dvd drive's own eject button to open the tray, since it is loose, that is why sometimes you can even eject the disk by pushing the manual eject button. Is there any one can confirm the mechanism of how the tray opens? I wonder if we glue the manual eject button and dvd drive's own eject button will solve the problem.
I am still waiting for the MS reply, I think I pretty much I'll end up with buying a new drive, A piece of crap

ok guys im having the same problem i think i have found the solution... what i did at first like any modder would do is opened my 360, it works 90% fully open and only occasionaly pulls the restarting crap, so when it did restart with the case open, i pushed on the black cable on the back of the dvd drive it felt a bit loose so i gave it a nice firm push and it restarted and worked fine....THIS seems to be temporary because when i close the system back up the problem persisted, but is seems to fix it about 99.99% of the time when the console is open; to push on that black cable(not the one with multiple wires but the one wire solid black one)

    Any thoughts?

lift the dvd drive up, and make sure that your SATA cable is plugged into the motherboard good. The SATA cable is the single black wire. Also make sure that when you close the case its not pulling on it anywhere.

Been reading this thread for a few weeks now. My 360 has the same problem. I've changed the dvd drive(put mobo in the new drive). Next thing im gonna try is to change the power and sata cables. Then i am gonna change the drive ribbon on the drive itself, maybe i ve kinked it when putting it in the new drive. If all else fails new 360 me thinks there cheap enough now £130 for arcade edition with hdmi port on it.

SUCCESS :) When i changed my drive i took the mobo out of the old one and put it in the new drive. Thats why my problem must have continued. I put the new mobo back in and flashed the old key onto it and voila, no flashing light and works like a dream. So imo the flashing light must be dead mobo in the dvd drive. Hope this helps people out.

it could have been a different rom version than your original. you should have just flashed your new drive with your orginal dvd key.

My box has the same issue with the random restarting of the machine, followed by the blinking green light, no errors, and no disc read. Could someone summarize all of the possible issues to check for. (ranked from most likely to least, maybe?)

Now, I don't know that this will work for everyone, but there is a small rubber band that controls the gears, mine came loose. I reattached it, and BAM! Working. This isn't a universal fix, but completely something you should try before shelling out 50$ for repairs.

    Cheers

Well you seem to have it happen to you when you turn it on. I am having the blinking middle light on after I power my console down after I play a while. I have the Nyko cooling fan attached to the back. Anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong?

Well i have a problem kind of the same, i just bought a 360 elite its only a few months old. When i turn the xbox on the green light only comes on in the middle the green lights do not spin around the center light, and i have no sound and the video doesnt come on but the cd rom tray comes out. If i turn it off and on a few times sometimes up to 10 times then it comes on and i can play and have no problems once it turns on. The problem is only when i try to turn it on the next day after i played that night it wont turn on only the center green light. any help with this problem would be awesome thanks...

I have been following this forum for like 2 months now waiting for someone to finally find a solution for this problem. My xbox 360 is like 3 years old and i Used to have the same problem. I tried everything and finaly came up with the solution to MY xbox360. The problem was getting worst and worst. 2 weaks ago i used to be able to play only 10 min. SOLUTIoN: . I cleaned the inside of my xbox and place a fan behind my xbox360 that blows air directly to the little holes on the back of the xbox and i tested it for 2 weeks and no problem since then.
i guess mine just gets too heated and turns off

    i hope it helps
    Rob

    !!!!SOLUTION!!!!

here you guys have the answer for your big ? marks:)

wy the flashing green light in the middle of the ring is showing and you cant play any games with DvD drive is because the power cable to the DvD Rom is flicking or broken!!!

i got 3 red flashing lights on my modded 360 and got real mad (for the 5th time:p) so i tryed to plug out the power cable for the DvD Rom and restarted the xbox. after that i saw that the middle green light was flashing.

(btw 3 red lights flashing is that ether your power supply is broken or geting power spikes or it is your firmware that crashes)

hope this helps ppl;)... peace out!!!

This doesn't help. 3 red lights flashing can mean anything, and the flashing green light isn't necessarily because the power cable in the dvd drive is bad.

    Hey everyone,
Yesterday I got me Xbox 360 modded and the guy who modded it said that the modding process takes longer because it is a Liteon or Lit-on, or something flash drive. When I took my console home and plug it in, the centre power light on the console was blinking and when I got to the disc menu on screen, it said the disc drive is opening.

Is it the modding that cause the console to react as it is?
because it worked perfectly fine before yesterday and this is the first time I saw it happen, so I was wondering did the person that modded the console do something wrong when he flashed it?
