Hi Guys, I currently have Windows 7 Ultimate installed on my PC and would like to stream 1080p MKV files to my Xbox 360. I've been doing some research and understand that if I was to install the DivX 7 codec I could run MKV files from Windows Media Centre to Xbox 360. However, before I attempte this can anyone advise on whether I have to log into Xbox Live to do this? As a few months ago I had flashed my firmeware and don't want to get banned from Live. So just to clarify - would I need to use Xbox Live at all if I want to do media streaming? Thanks in advance
Not sure if it works in MC. It might work in TVersity, which would save you a lot of headache compared to MC.
Hi, Thanks for your response, I will try and see if I can get it to work with media centre if not I will give tversity a go. Do you know whether I have to log into live in order to do media streaming as I don't want to get my console banned. Thanks
If I use media centre I will be using the divx 7 codec which can play mkv I just need to know whether you have to log into live when streaming
The mkv playback is not important, All I want to know is that do I need to log into live to use media streaming. Thanks
Thanks. It's a shame that there is no homebrew app that allows you to play major video codecs without logging into live. I believe that Microsoft have such great control over our xboxes by ensuring that we have to log into live if we want to use our consoles to play movies. From what I've read even if you don't want to do streaming and just want to play simple divx files you have to log into live each and everytime. From a technical perspective there should be no need for you to actually log onto to the I internet/live to play movies as you should be able to do this offline.
