I have heard of Falcons and Zephyr versions of the Xbox 360. Is there one even newer than these? I was going to go to the store to pick up a xbox and wanted to know which one I would most likely be getting. Also, which drive would I most likely get? I hear there is a new lite-on but is this the only one they're making? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
just to expand a bit on the above post.... I have bought several new units in the past six months. The newest board is a jasper board that has a better gpu. This new jasper/gpu combination uses less energy therefore creating less heat. Heat being the number one cause of RROD. I have only found the jasper in ARCADE versions that are manufactured after 10/23/08. The tell tale signe is the "12.1 amps" written on the label visible though the window in the ox. You actually have to put your finger in the window and shift the console as far right as possible to see the 12.1. These all are equipped liteon drives. As you may know they are hackable now. I purchased an elite in August and another in October with various manufacturer dates of mid 2008 both were Falcons and both still had Benq drives. All the above were purchased in the US at either Best Buy or Ciruit City. I suspect that some versions other than the Arcade should start showing up with jaspers and liteons. Goodluck.
i just got a 360 this weekend (another one). It was a premium console, so middle of the line. WHen I opened it up, was glad to see the 12,1 amps on the back. So it's a jasper. I was greeted with a liteon inside. which was quickly pwned
I'm reading instructions on how to mod. I used to have a benq, but it broke so I went to the store today and ended up getting the 14.2 A lite on. Is there a way to hack this version in DOS. I only have one sata cable and it is used by my hard drive (i.e. I cant do any flashing in windows). Thanks.
If I wanted to get the connectivity kit, which one would you recommend? I see there is a ck3 and an xtractor. Also a reaper is available. Is this highly recommended also?
