Hi all, Ive backed up plenty of xbox games before but have struck a problem of which i hope you can help me on. When backing up my halo 2 disk its slightly too big for a single dvd (single layer) so i used a patch at the time and managed to fit it onto a single dvd. Now in an attempt to back up Project gotham racing 2, it appeasrs to be oversized by about a gig. Is there on the net somewhere a database of xbox game patches, when i say patches, i mean a program that eliminates uneeded files or some sort. i.e is there any way to fit these games onto a single layer dvd, if not does the xbox read home burnt dual layer discs well?? kind regards Muncey
hi i have the same problem i am trying to back up conkers and its too big for a dvd disc. what files can i cut out? any help appreciated
mate look at the post above yours, its the answer. If your game isnt on that site, there several things you can do. Firstly you can delete pretty much all *.xbe files in the root directory apart from default.xbe i.e you can delete updater, dashupdate... also it appears you can get away with deleting different language files. If your unsure it will work, back it up to dvd-rw first to make sure it will work before creating a coaster.
Little bit off topic, but if you DID want to use a dual layer, I've just replaced my xbox dvd drive with the Hitachi GDR-8050L, and I had some TDK dual layer +r, and they work beautifully.
