hi all, i have this problem with my xbox, when i turn it on it will not turn on, it will give a little hum noise like its about to turn on but then shuts off then on again then off then it just stays stays on but not in working mode and the disc tray cannot be ejected, it is modded, i dont know what kind of mod chip i just know it has the three switches on the bottom under the power button, also if i disable the chip it will boot up but it will have red flashing around the eject button and it will display this screen of descriptioss of service thingy with code 16. does anybody know the problem or solution, it will help a lot THX in advance.
Yes I can help..this is quite simple...error 16 means that a dashboard file is missing or damaged..Just run your autoinstaller disk (when you got this xbox you should have been given a software dvd with it?) and repair/install M$ dash to C:\..Then install Evox/unleash also to C:\.. 3 switches sounds like an Xecuter 2.6.. thx for the reply, but this isn't working either, with the chip on i can't even get it to eject, with it disabled it won't boot the auto installer which i used before so i know should work, any other solutions? on a side note i did recently put in the 4-12-06 XBMC via ftp can this contribute to the problems?
what's a weird problem. You are not able to eject the dvd tray with modchip on, are you? Xbox is off and disable modchip too. hit the eject button. So the dvd tray open and xbox turn on. Insert the autoinstaller disk then close the dvd tray. Then turn off xbox. Enable modchip. Then turn on xbox with the autoinstaller already inside dvd drive. If the disk boots up, then you are ok.
Bet that 4/12/06 media center is another shady one like the last few... the good one was 1/19/06 and on xbox360hackers installer, the others have all been messed up in one way or another...get an official one from sourceforge..not a shady torrent one.. There is a lot of dodgy software around lately..
a bit of irony happened today, i turned on the xbox with the chip disabled so that it will laod to the error screen and i turned the chip on, i left the xbox on to do some research online and next thing i noticed was that the three lgiths on the chip were bright green as before they were low dimmed green which got me thinking that it works so i turned off the xbox and turned it back on and it works now...now i'm afraid this will happen again sometime in the future and i really have no clue how to prevent this.
Did you move your xbox before it went funny ? It sounds as though your modchip has a loose connection, the dim lights would be an indicator of not enough power geting to the chip. I used to have the same problem if i moved my xbox around due to a lose connection until i repaired it
It's a strange collection of symptoms altogether, sounds a bit like a psu problem or a partial short around the area of the chip.. What chip is it? duox, spider? or something exotic
i have no lcue what kind of chip it is, i just know it has three lights on the bottom under the xbox beneath the power button.
