can someone help me, i have had my xbox since the england release date and therefore i have Thomson drive. i have been having a lot of trouble with it lately and i have just installed EvoX. some games give me DRE (Disk Read Errors) and others load. my friend told me to use a CD lens Cleaner so i did, but now my drive wont read anything and i dont really want to buy a new drive. can anyone help me without having to buy a new drive
Yes, your laser is certainly fried. You can buy a replacement lens for $25 and replace it yourself if you feel comfortable doing so. There are lots of guides on the net to help you, as this is a very common problem.

hmmm...they dont have them listed as product in UK http://www.divineo.co.uk/cgi-bin/div-uk/index.html Im not sure where you can buy them in UK...check ebay, but make sure it is a "new" lense
