hey, ive had this problem for about 2 years and i want to fix it now. my original xbox tray wont open. i press the open button and it just keeps blinking. and when i turn on, it just stays a solid green and nothing happens on the screen. i have some original music i made years ago stored on here which is why i want this to work, thanks to anyone who can help
what do you mean "nothing happens on the screen" .. blank screen? .. any sound happen? could be a coma box .. might not be fixable as for the tray not opening .. press eject and give it a sharp crack right over the middle of the dvd drive XD .. sounds like a samsung with a stretched drive belt to me
yeah, nothing comes up on the screen, the green light just keeps blinking. if it just is done... is there anyway i can get the contents of the harddrive out of it?
If it's a v1.0/1 there might be a way to fix it. They have 4 bios banks on the tsop. http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/ComaConsole.htm Usually these don't get as far as unlocking the drive, but while you have the top off try pulling the ide cable out of the dvd drive and see if that changes the situation at all. You can call me a genius later
on another subject... do any of you know if its possible to rip custom soundtracks off the hard drive which were uploaded?
yes.. they will be lurking in E:\udata along with a load of gamesaves and settings .. but there is no way to unlock a drive without the xbox starting up.. hotswap or eeprom reader.. manufacturers force unlock will destroy ALL the data on the drive... probably easier to get it working first.
follow the first guide I linked you to.. at least as far as finding out which version box you have.. Like I said first off.. it could be a gonner.
i assume i dont have the first version xbox considering i got it a year after it was released and it was able to read/rip burned cds. also i wish someone could do this for me, lol. i am so lost.
i have also tried the paperclip thing to manually open it and it doesnt seem to work. am i not hitting the right spot, or is the xbox really just that messed up?
so i finally got it open and it didnt even do a thing... wow. if i were to open it up, and got the hard drive out, would the music i put on there still be able to be found.
